Multiphase 3D Printing with Shape Memory Property for Untethered Actuation
Nanocomposite polymers are a class of materials known for their customizability and vast applicability in the additive manufacturing industry. Shape Memory Actuators (SMAs) are a nanocomposite subset that has become a prime research interest in industrial, automotive, aerospace, and biomedical applications. This is because SMAs have a much greater propensity to return to their original size and shape, even after undergoing large deformations. This research aims to develop SMAs capable of responding to thermal and magnetic stimuli, for use in the aforementioned industries. This will allow for much greater reliability and durability in materials.
