Investigating the Mechanical Stability and Photoluminescence Behavior of MAPbI₃ Perovskite Films with Natural Polymer Additives

This research investigates the mechanical resilience and photoluminescence (PL) stability of methylammonium lead iodide (MAPbI₃) perovskite films on polyethylene-based substrates. While perovskites are promising for flexible solar cells, their mechanical fragility remains a challenge. This study examines how natural biopolymer additives, such as gellan gum, influence film durability under bending. Mechanical tests show that plain MAPbI₃ films exhibit an unexpected PL increase after bending, while films with gum maintain expected optical behavior. To understand this, PL characterization is used to analyze material changes. The results aim to improve the mechanical and optoelectronic performance of perovskite films for energy applications.
