Evaluating the Flexibility and Durability of MAPbI3 Perovskite Films on Plastic Substrates with Natural Polymer Additives

Sustainability icon, disabled. A green leaf.

This research explores the flexibility and durability of methylammonium lead iodide (MAPbI3) perovskite films on indium tin oxide (ITO) coated polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrates. Perovskites are low-cost materials known for their excellent light absorption and charge transport properties, making them ideal for high-efficiency solar cells. The study employs blade coating and spin coating techniques, with a focus on blade coating due to its scalability. Natural polymers, such as gum and starch, are used as additives in the MAPbI3 ink to improve film formation and control crystallization. Upcoming mechanical tests will assess the durability and flexibility of these films, aiming to optimize additive concentrations for enhanced stability under bending.
