Nanomechanical Characterization and Evaluation of Silk Fibroin Electrospun Scaffolds for Regenerative-Engineered Orthopedic Products

This research addresses the field of biomanufacturing 3D living tissues for regenerative medicine by focusing on nanomechanical tests on individual silk fibroin fibers derived from electrospun scaffolds. Utilizing Atomic Force Microscopy, the study aims to accurately quantify load-strain behavior in these nanofibers, providing insights into their mechanical interactions with anchorage-dependent cells. The ultimate goal is to establish consistent nanomechanical measurements, paving the way for the practical development of 3D silk-fibroin-based scaffolds for regenerative-engineered orthopedic products, contributing to advancements in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.
