Analyzing the Effects of Conduction, Convection, and Radiation in a Rotary Drum

Rotary drums are tools used extensively in chemical manufacturing industries for heating and drying chemical batches. The objective of this study is to analyze the efficiency of different forms of heat transfer (conduction, convection, and radiation) on particles in a rotary drum. The results of this study will outline trends relating the operating conditions of the rotary drum to the expected heat transfer efficiency to the particles inside. Ultimately, using these trends to optimize heat transfer efficiency will improve current industrial models and reduce the energy consumption required to utilize rotary drums.
