Optimizing Heat Transfer in a Rotary Drum

Rotary drums are tools that play a vital role for heat transfer in the chemical processing industry because they distribute heat uniformly to particles in a particle bed. The energy consumption for industrial-scale rotary drums is high and methods to improve the overall efficiency of rotary drums have not been fully explored. The purpose of this study is to determine the optimal conditions for heat transfer in a rotary drum by analyzing the effect that heat transferred through conduction, convection, and radiation has on particles in a rotary drum and comparing the experimental results to results from simulation models.
