Using Electrical Impedance Spectrum to Classify Brain Pathologies Causing Elevated Intracranial Pressure

Intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring is crucial in the management of conditions such as cerebral edema or hydrocephalus, which can be life threatening. The current state of ICP monitoring techniques involve extremely invasive procedures, such as intraventricular catheters. The invasiveness and lack of reliability in long-term monitoring with existing technology prove to be a gap that can be addressed through the exploration of alternative methods. The goal of this research is to explore the potential application of electrical impedance for ICP monitoring. This also involves identifying how effective different ranges of the frequency spectrum are for detecting ICP fluctuations.
