Effects of High Temperature Annealing on Tungsten-doped VO2 Phase Transition Temperature

Sustainability icon, disabled. A green leaf.

The aim of this study is to determine how annealing tungsten-doped VO2 at high temperatures affects the phase transition temperature and the change in transmittance between the metallic and insulating phases. The transmittance of VO2 films doped with different levels of tungsten annealed at different temperatures was tested at a range of temperatures to determine this relationship. If the transition temperature could be lowered to ambient temperature, VO2 would be a more effective thermal control and could be used in smart window and spacecraft applications. In the future, the time annealing these films could be varied to determine the effects.
