Effect of Startle on Functional Tasks Requiring Multi-Joint Coordination

The research focuses on studying the effect of startling acoustic stimuli (SAS) on latency and accuracy of performing everyday tasks such as drinking water from a cup and feeding with a spoon. These are complex functional tasks requiring multi-joint coordination. The aim of this study is to translate the results to clinical trials to eventually develop a form of physical therapy to help enhance mobility in individuals with upper limb mobility impairments while performing these everyday tasks.
