Characterizing Basilisk Lizard Running On Water
Basilisk lizards can effectively travel over diverse terrain including land and water. Insight into this ability can impact the success of robots in difficult operating conditions. By studying the weight and the amount of force plumed juvenile Basilisk lizards generate while running on water, better and more efficient strategies for water locomotion can be achieved. Applying this knowledge to search and rescue robots allows for a wider range of terrain that can be proficiently search in times of natural disaster.
