American Society of Civil Engineering

The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is an organization that allows students to learn technical skills by being hands-on with civil engineering projects. ASCE hosts the Pacific Southwest Conference (PSWC) every Spring Semester, where students display their completed projects while competing against eighteen other universities in the region. Competitions include the construction of a timber house, completion of a concrete canoe, demonstration of surveying skills and more. The tasks of these competitions are not only to construct an engineering project, but to learn to abide by codes and regulations used in the industry while developing a professional product.
