Hydrogen Storage Techniques in Fuel Cell Vehicles

Hydrogen is becoming increasingly an important fuel for transportation applications. The storage of hydrogen in fuel cell vehicles has been problematic to date due to low energy density of contemporary technologies. Therefore, research to compare state-of-the-art technologies and determine which, if any, meet targets released by the U.S. Department of Energy is the objective of this project. With a literature review of the available storage technologies complete, the next step is selecting the most promising technology for further, in-depth research. The deliverable will be analysis of material performance in a fuel cell vehicle of a partner automotive manufacturer.
