A Variable Thermal Feedback Mixed-Reality Haptic Interface for Virtual Fluid Interactions

The goal of this research project is to recreate haptic fluid sensations, specifically modeling the thermal properties of chemical fluid interactions. This research fits into the development of virtual remote chemistry education so that users could experience a chemistry reaction in virtual reality, and feel it in real life. In order to accomplish this, the project will investigate the sensations of heating and cooling, in addition to the feeling of flowing liquid by way of variable peltier-effect thermal control and wind flow. The project will also incorporate interactive virtual environments with real-time device temperature feedback.
