Functionalization of Citrus Pectin as a Green Corrosion Inhibitor for Gas Pipelines
Corrosion in gas pipelines not only has significant economic costs, but also poses environmental and safety risks. Established corrosion inhibitors, while effective, often exhibit toxic effects and lack environmentally friendliness, therefore preventing energy companies from transitioning into sustainable infrastructure.
This research explores citrus pectin as an environmentally friendly method of preventing corrosion. Along with modifying the pectin to optimize functionality, this study aims to reduce corrosion in gas pipelines in a eco-conscious manner. Surface studies and electrochemical analysis will be used to evaluate the effectiveness of the corrosion inhibitor.
