Octopus Arm Muscles in Relation to Arm Use for Bioinspired Robotics

The objective is to study the musculature of Octopus arms for use in Bioinspired Robotics.  Previous literature presents the idea of uniform muscle layering. The lab has found this not to be the case as the muscle layers change proximal to distal (base to tip). Correlations between the transverse and longitudinal muscle layers indicate specialized functions at different points in the arm.  This data can be used to more accurately build a functioning octo-bot in future work.
