Understanding the Impact of the Tempo of Distractions on Cognitive Ability

Data icon, disabled. Four grey bars arranged like a vertical bar chart.

In order to provide students with the best education, it is critical to understand what distractors may affect their cognitive abilities. The research focuses on understanding whether patterned or randomly timed audio distractions have a larger impact on the students’ performance. Data will be collected (performance, time on task, distractions) through the use of an online survey where subjects will be exposed to patterned and randomly timed audio stimuli. In order to better understand the compiled data, machine learning prediction models will be used. The models will provide a better understanding of the impact of the auditory stimuli on the learning outcomes.
