Transient Cryothermal Measurements for Fast Dynamic Radiative Cooling

Energy icon, disabled. An orange lightning bolt.

This project aims to achieve sub-second transient cryothermal measurements of radiative coatings by iterating upon an existing custom cryostat platform. The modifications include suspension of the sample holder within the vacuum chamber to minimize conduction heat loss and an addition of a heat flux sensor between a heating stage and the sample. Existing samples, including a variable thermal emitter, will be tested upon the improved platform to both validate the platform’s capabilities as well as to aid in the research of unique transient behaviors in these radiative coatings.
