Point-of-Load Pulse Emulator for High-Performance Power Converter Testing

Energy icon, disabled. An orange lightning bolt.

Pulsed power converters drive loads with a wide range of pulse specifications, and emulating these pulses is crucial for testing converters. This research explores switched-resistor and switched-inductor solutions. The switched inductor is an attractive solution because of its simplicity and low component count, but it may face more challenges in terms of parasitics. The researcher will select one of the proposed solutions and design, build, and test it. Developing a pulse emulator that can support demanding slew rates will streamline the design and test of pulsed power converters.
