Image Processing and Tracking in Underwater Low-Light Conditions
The research aim was to examine and overcome the obstacles involved in developing a low-cost underwater image processing device to be utilized in non-ideal environments. The contraption would detect an object or lifeform of note, align positional axes, initiate a continuous image feed from a modular camera, apply optimal digital signal modifications, interpret triggering event importance, and implement algorithmic tracking-logic or return to the initial axes. The materialization of such a device would serve as a potential path to significant scientific discoveries, and will also allot newfound opportunity to youth and adults alike in oceanographical education.
