Experimental Study of Optical Force Modulation using Tunable Materials
The objective of this project is to experimentally measure the optical force reflected by a sample with tunable optical properties such as vanadium dioxide. A tuning fork based optical force measurement system was developed in order to quantify the optical force by an oscillating probe from which the resulting resonant frequency shift can be measured. The measured fluctuation of force will serve as a basis for the understanding and implementation of a particle-repellent coating for electronics and space exploration technologies.
