Design of High-Frequency Large Intelligent Surfaces using Reflectarray Antennas
With advancing technology, there has been a constant demand for increased cellular data rate and connectivity as number of connected users is expected to be 28.5 billion by 2022. This research focuses on design and implementation of large intelligent surfaces using reflectarray antennas that can be implemented for 5G and beyond wireless networks. The electronic reconfigurability of antenna array has been developed using PIN diodes and its performance has been evaluated by fabricating a testbench and measuring their RF characteristics. Also, microcontrollers have been used to control the PIN diodes individually. Future work involves biasing of active array with microcontroller biasing setup.
