Cost and Lead Time Reduction of Replacement Piping Using Additive Manufacturing
Metal 3D printing has grown up from its research stage to the fabrication for a wide range of commercial functional applications. Metal 3D printing is now popular in industries to build and repair various mechanical components. This research mainly focuses on pipeline failures that result in increased maintenance budgets, overtime hours for service personnel and business disruptions. To overcome the increased cost and lead time of repairs, this research has explored the Metal 3D printing technology using Selective Laser Melting. The mechanical properties and weldability of 3D printed parts are studied based on standardized pressure and tensile test.
