Applying ChatGPT to Extract Mind Maps For Resource Evaluation

Education icon, disabled. A purple mortarboard.

Students are increasingly using automated summary tools such as ChatGPT in order to quickly analyze the exponentially increasing volume of information they have access to for research projects. This project seeks to build an automated tool using ChatGPT that builds more accurate, concise, and digestible summaries in the form of mind maps, which are graphical layouts of important information in a document. This tool will be compared heuristically against ChatGPT. Further research would be conducted on further reducing ChatGPT’s capacity for hallucination, bias, and inclusion of irrelevant information in this task.
