Automated Core-Loss Tester for Non-Sinusoidal Signals

Core loss characteristics in magnetic materials play a critical role in the design of power electronic converters. Manufacturer-provided data on core loss characteristics is often collected over a limited operating range and unspecified core shape. Having the ability to directly test magnetic materials is extremely beneficial to the power electronics designer in producing high-performance power converters. In this project, the team works to develop an automated testing setup for arbitrary signals. This will allow for precise data collection across a broad range of medium and high frequencies without requiring manual, time-consuming tuning.
