Sensor networks are important in security and environmental remote sensing applications, including remote detection of air, space, surface, or underwater vehicles and natural resource deposits. This research has established that the performance of multi-channel signal detectors is invariant across several classes of signals, including Gaussian and digitally modulated signals in noise. It is also quantifying the decrease in detection sensitivity when sensors is degraded by loss of magnitude or phase information. In ongoing work, phase recovery methods are being applied to mitigate lost phase information, the extent to which this mitigation restores detection performance is being ascertained.
