Optimizing Placement of Generation Assets in Microgrids

Energy icon, disabled. An orange lightning bolt.

This project evaluates methodologies to size and cost off-grid electrification projects. Often sites are selected for development with only information that is insufficient to justify engineering decisions and financial backing. This work involves asset selection, sizing, and placement that is performed in conjunction with distribution network analysis and power engineering to co-optimize costs and losses in the system while ensuring reliable power supply to loads. Case study analysis is completed for several villages in Niger that are intended for electrification.
