S.H.E.I.L.D. Particulate Coatings

Energy icon, disabled. An orange lightning bolt.

This research aims to produce a coating that will allow single paned windows to have a better transmittance while maintaining the same haze as dual pane windows. This will increase the thermal and acoustic comfort of buildings. Through criteria set by the SHIELD (Single-Pane Highly Insulating Efficient Lucid Designs) project, the researchers aim to optimize the particulate coating by using porous silica on silicon wafers.
