AquaChain: A Blockchain-Based Framework for Transparent Water Footprint Tracking in Agricultural Supply Chains

This project develops AquaChain, a system to improve transparency and verification of water usage in agricultural supply chains. By integrating datasets from the Water Footprint Network and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAOSTAT), the framework calculates crop-specific water footprints and stores verified results on a blockchain to ensure data integrity and traceability. This approach provides a reliable and accessible solution for researchers, policymakers, and supply chain stakeholders to support sustainable decision-making. The system also enables consumer access to water footprint data through QR code-based interfaces.
