Cortical Contributions of Sensory Gaiting to Voluntary Movement: A Somatosensory Evoked Potential Study
The research objectives are (1) to identify the changes of Somatosensory Evoked Potentials (SEP) amplitude during voluntary movements underlying sensorimotor integration by using Electroencephalography (EEG), and (2) quantify the correlation between SEPs and motor planning and execution (e.g. reaction time and force variability). Data collection is almost complete and the results can be meaningful for further understanding of neural mechanisms under the modulation of sensory input during voluntary movements. The remainder of the project will be devoted to data processing and statistical analysis.
