Investigating Data Collection and Aggregation for Improving Collective Intelligence

Research suggests that harnessing the wisdom of crowds is a valuable endeavor to reach a more comprehensive understanding of situations and improve decision-making. That is, intelligently aggregating the estimations or predictions of multiple individuals, the collective value can be more accurate than the information provided by any single individual. However, the cost of acquiring the intelligence of a sufficiently large group of people can make it less attractive. Through investigating methods of data collection and aggregation designed to maximize the utility of smaller amounts of data, the researcher aims to make collective intelligence more applicable in the real world.
