Determining Transcription Factor LuxR Function In Mammalian Cells
Research in this study investigates the transcriptional factors, or gene activators and repressors, which are commonly used in bacteria, and whether or not they can be used in mammalian cells. If successful, this research would allow other researchers to easily take genetic circuits made and tested in bacteria for use in mammalian cells. This is particularly useful since working with mammalian cells requires extra precautions for sterility than do bacteria. The future of this research would include testing circuits made in bacteria in mammalian cells, with the modifications necessary for the change in environment.
