Investigating the Effectiveness of Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) on Motor Training and the Potential Role of Placebo

Noninvasive therapeutic techniques have been desirable in the biomedical community due to their ability to treat diseases or abnormalities in various body systems without causing excessive damage to patients. Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), a form of noninvasive brain stimulation (NIBS), works by manipulating the neuronal membrane threshold, which has been shown to have positive effects on memory, behavioral, and motor control. While some studies have already analyzed the use of a classic 1×1 stimulation montage, this study aims to provide more insight into the use of HD-tDCS, which provides more focal stimulation, around the primary motor cortex.
