Open-Air Plasma Treatment for Sintering and Curing of Lithium-based Perovskite Films
Perovskite has gained attention as a potential solid electrolyte to create safer and better batteries. However, perovskite suffers from long open-air production times and poor electrical qualities compared to standard lithium-ion electrolytes. This study analyzes the efficacy of plasma treatment, a novel method of curing and sintering lithium-based perovskite. The results of this study compare the effects of plasma treatment to more traditional rapid thermal processing to determine if plasma treatment could be a key step in improving the production time and qualities of lithium-based perovskite.

Avijit Jutla’s FURI project is sponsored by the Ahmad Family Fulton Undergraduate Research Initiative Fund.
Jalal U. and Syeda F. Ahmad and their children — Jaheen N., Raisa N. and Nafisah N., all of whom attended the Fulton Schools — established a fund to give back and support undergraduate students in their pursuit of knowledge and the advancement of research. Their endowment, which funds a materials science, mechanical, biomedical or electrical engineering student, was created to help more students have the life-changing experience of conducting research through FURI.
