Practical Application of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) During Asphalt Pavement Construction

Over recent years, the application of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) has significantly increased in the world of construction. UAVs are beginning to play a key role in today’s infrastructure development. Specifically, UAVs in construction have become a major factor in safety, including QA/QC, surveying, site planning, and inspections/monitoring. The following research will consist of a literature review focusing on how UAVs can be implemented into asphalt paving projects to improve safety. Additionally, a DJI M300 equipped with a thermal imaging sensor will be used during paving projects to monitor the paving process.
