AIChE Chemical Engineering Car – 2020 Western Regional Conference

ASU’s Chemical Engineering Car (ChemE Car) Team is competing this semester at the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Western Regional Conference. Our aim is to power and stop a small autonomous vehicle using only chemical reactions and supplementary electronics. Our vehicle generates electricity using Peltier modules (thermo-electric semiconductor tiles) between hot and cold reservoirs. This technology can be upscaled and integrated into an industrial setting to utilize energy from hot or cold waste streams. Although our project is on the small scale, these technologies could save companies money and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
