Artificial Intelligent Materials Crystal Classifier ( A.I.- MC2)

Hydroxyapatite (HA) is the structural ceramic of human bone and has been long sought out in regenerative medicine. This study will employ sol-gel chemistry synthesis to develop HA thin films and coatings to be analyzed using X-ray diffraction (XRD). The XRD spectra will be analyzed manually and with a custom AI algorithm for peak identification and background subtraction to compare calculated grain size and crystallinity. This project is a continuation of previous work, aiming to synthesize HA powders for the dual purpose of testing a new sol-gel chemistry method and training an XRD analysis machine learning algorithm to increase accuracy.
