Predicting Manufacturing Defects in Plastics due to Geometric Errors

One common flaw in plastic medical instruments is warping and other defects which occurs during the injection or molding process. The objective of this research is to create a model of the strains and stresses induced during the manufacturing process of plastics due to the geometry of the instrument. This model can be used to analyze and predict where defects may occur and fix them prior to manufacturing.
