A Comprehensive Study of Sex Difference in Neuromuscular Control of the Knee Joint

This project aims to quantify neuromuscular reasons behind sex differences to ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) injuries. This is done by studying difference in stiffness and damping of knee joint between male and female in Static condition via position control and Dynamic condition via admittance control of the joint. A human leg will be moved in a circular arc trajectory with the help of robotic arm and force data from sensors will be collected. Until now, researchers can generate the trajectory for position control and do experimental set-up. Future work includes analysis of experimental data to validate the claim.
