Bismuth-assisted Surface and Bandgap Engineering of Sb₂(S,Se)₃ Solar Cells

This project investigates a bismuth surface treatment to enhance the performance of antimony sulfoselenide (Sb₂(S,Se)₃) thin-film solar cells. Sb₂(S,Se)₃ is a promising next-generation photovoltaic material due to its low toxicity and earth-abundant composition. Incorporating bismuth on the absorber surface induces bandgap shifting and improves film morphology, leading to enhanced interface quality and device performance. Structural, chemical, and electronic analyses are used to study these effects. This work advances understanding of performance limitations in Sb₂(S,Se)₃ devices and supports the development of efficient, sustainable solar technologies for a greener energy future.
