Schlieren Optics and Photoacoustic Imaging Development

The purpose of the research is to shorten diagnostic times by developing a new real-time Photoacoustic Microscopy imaging technique. Photoacoustic microscopy can target naturally occurring absorbers as well as exogenous contrast agents which can reveal information regarding underlying health. Traditional methods require multiple scans to reconstruct an image. By combining Schlieren Optics with Photoacoustic Imaging, this research aims to collect similar information that can be collected with one scan that can be interpreted in real time.
