Cutting Tool for Bio-Inspired Robotic Fish

A major problem involving the Phoenix canal systems is the constant buildup of weeds in the canals. The goal of this project is to develop a lightweight cutting tool and attach it onto an autonomous, fish-inspired, robotic platform that will cut these weeds and maintain water-flow in canals and waterways, like those in Phoenix. This project will focus on design parameters that maximize the efficiency of the cutting motion. The researchers anticipate that multiple designs will be tested and analyzed to validate the effectiveness of the design.
