Removing Selenium Oxoanions from Water Using Layered Double Hydroxides in Chitosan Beads
Water treatment is a major environmental and societal area of study. This research will help in creating water treatment processes that are more selective for selenate over other oxoanions in solution. This will make it more feasible for industries to meet the federal standards regarding selenate concentrations in effluents. This project’s focus is incorporating a nanopowder into a polymeric matrix and forming this mixture into beads for water filtration. Ultimately, by making water treatment systems more feasible for companies it will allow industries to have a more positive impact on the environment.
