Investigating the Role of Astrocytes on GSC Invasion In A 3D Microfluidic Vascular Tumor Model

Glioblastoma Multiforme is the most aggressive cancer that begins within the brain. They can either start from normal brain cells or develop from an existing low-grade astrocytoma, and are housed by the perivascular niche in the brain microenvironment. This niche allows for the persistence of the tumor cells even after treatment. It has therefore become imperative to identify the role of the perivascular niche through in vitro modeling in order to improve efficiency of therapeutic treatment for individuals with glioblastoma, and to prevent recurrence of this disease.
