Verification and Validation of Automated Vehicles

Security icon, disabled. A blue padlock, locked.

The commercialization of automated vehicles (AVs) is imminent; if a standardized set of verification and validation (V&V) practices is not established, lives could be lost. Currently, the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) has created a task force (Dr. Wishart, the FURI research mentor, is Chairman) to develop a V&V methodology. Information has been integrated encompassing entities engaged in V&V activities in order to establish best practices across the scope of AV development/(V&V) procedures. Emerging territories in this field include machine learning, AI, human machine interface (HMI) testing, connected infrastructure implementation & adaptation, and cyber-security.
