Tyrosine Infused Micro Particles

Health icon, disabled. A red heart with a cardiac rhythm running through it.

The goal of this research is to encapsulate tyrosine in microparticles and determine the release rate to find the desired concentration to encapsulate. After designing a protocol to create microparticles, using Ultra Violet Spectroscopy and many samples with different concentrations, a calibration curve was created to use as a reference for upcoming encapsulation tests. These particles will provide a solution for hypothyroidism and their decreased metabolic rates by stimulating brown fat which causes calories to be burned as heat rather than stored as white fat. Future work will involve determining the release rate and the desired concentration.
