The Impact of External Factors on Multiple-Choice Exams

Education icon, disabled. A purple mortarboard.

The purpose of this research project is to utilize statistical analysis techniques to evaluate how exam composition impacts the performance of students on multiple-choice exams. The factors specifically in question are the order in which questions are presented and “Answer not here” being included in the answer choices of an exam. Data on student performance will be collected utilizing online quizzes administered through Canvas throughout the semester. Once the data has been collected, techniques such as hypothesis testing and analysis of variance will be applied to test for statistical significance.
