Study of How Yeast Transport in Membrane Protein

Health icon, disabled. A red heart with a cardiac rhythm running through it.

Protein transporter Sul1 and Sul2 in yeast is similar to those in human gene family SLC26. Thus, identifying the mutations in Sul1 and Sul2 can guide scientists to discover what caused the mutation in SLC26. Primers are designed to target each mutation, and the mutation will be cloned into BG1805 plasmid. Yeast growth is recorded when the plasmid that contains mutation is inserted back to the yeast. The yeast growing system in liquid culture for galactose induction has been established. The mutation on Sul1 and Sul2 will be made and the results will eventually be applied to SLC26.
