Structural Characterization of Perovskite Semiconductors’ “Self-Healing” Under Simulated Space Conditions

Perovskite semiconductors promote sustainability through their low-cost and easily fabricated process, as well as exhibiting unique properties such as self-healing that make them favorable as semiconductors in space applications. The following research examines the structure of perovskite materials (Cs0.2FA0.8PbI3 & CsPbBr3 composition) to characterize their self-healing properties after rest from degradation of gamma irradiation (1 MRad of gamma irradiation). Structural characterization is performed using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) to examine the change of the perovskite’s crystalline structure after exposure and rest. Changes in structure are correlated to differences in optical properties of the perovskite across the different compositions.
