Soybean Robustness Modeling

Sustainability icon, disabled. A green leaf.

The goal of this project is to identify which genes create more consistent yields in soybeans despite extreme temperatures. The research team has so far shown that there is a difference in mean yields between soybean varieties that have experienced several days of extreme temperature and those who have experienced only a few. In addition, the team has identified which genes are associated with this desired outcome. Future work would include testing, if the selections were random, or because of the analysis. This research is important as it has the potential to increase the earth’s carrying capacity.
