Senescence Phenotype Analysis of Progerin Induced Alzheimer’s Disease Neural Progenitor Cell Line Using Confocal Microscopy
The caveat of using a human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC) model for studying any late onset age progressive disorder like Alzheimer’s Disease (AD), is the loss of age-associated makers as a result of reprogramming. Progerin is the protein responsible for premature aging in Progeria and it can be used to artificially age the cells. The objective of the project is to analyze the effect of Progerin induced on senescence phenotypes using confocal microscopy in order to develop resilient AD model. This model can be used to understand the underlying mechanisms of AD and high throughput drug testing.
